Welcome to The Day We Died.
We are, as you can see, a role play forum for advanced rp'ers. Our premise is deeply plot-based, in which the advancement of science and religion has caused a group to tear the universe, creating 'Rifts' within it. These Rifts manifest as all sorts of weird events that affect all the members of our society.
Everyone is also a shapeshifter, and can shift into a totally different animal from their human counterpart. This allows for a very unique role play as human and animal instincts struggle for dominance in the fight to survive.
You may role play as an FBI agent, a member of IBED ( institution to bring the end of days ), or simply a civilian.
Conflict runs amok within people. We're all fighting for what we believe in, but pesky things like human nature and interactions always get in the way, and shifting complicates matters further.

THE DAY WE DIED...
It was beautiful, wasn't it? That final rush of adrenaline, last glimpse of the world as it all fades to black.
However, that time has not yet come for us yet, but there are those who wish to see the end of days now. As for the rest of us, we cling to sweet life for as long as we can, and then some more.
Fear of the unknown.
Mankind's greatest, most eternal weakness. The darkness makes the monsters look bigger, does it not? And fear is what drives us all, especially the residents of Urbs.
Located along the northern east coast, Urbs is quite beautiful for most of the year, but strange things have been happening. People dying. It's been going along all across the world, but Urbsis where the heart of the action is. An organization that would like to see today be the day we die, and usher in their 'eternal paradise', has breached the boundaries of science.
Boundaries of science, you say? Yes, it does have its limits. There has come a time where science has broken through what is logical, and has now entered into the realm of fantastical. Much of the world is the same as yours - no flying cars, levitating trains - but weird things are happening in the universe.
Rifts in the universe.
Physics fails to apply in half a building. Time decides to skip you forward, then back, then forward again. Drugs that unhinge abilities and free the mind.
The world might not be ending, but it sure feels like it.
Now, it's your turn to decide.
Are you a dedicated FBI agent, determined to restore normalcy and silence the people's screams?
Are you a religious fanatic whose only wish is to see eternal paradise and save these people from themselves?
Or are you a civilian, trying to avoid death and find your place in this world?
However, no matter what your choice is, you are a shapeshifter.
CURRENT HAPPENINGS
It is AUTUMN within Urbs, and you can expect the skies to be a bit cloudier than normal, with scattered drizzles and generally overcast horizons. No snow has fallen just yet, but by the looks of things and the cool, crisp air, it's not going to be hard to find.

If you're looking to log plans and plots with others, please feel free to post them here. You may also keep 'journals' for your character, as logs of their thoughts and trials completely separate from their bios. Feel free to post things like statistics, asking for plots or relationships, and more.
Messages from With to the community as a whole are located here, as well as contests, news about members, and more. If you are taking a leave, please post it in here.
If you are starting a new character, you must post your application within here to be reviewed, and perhaps moved into the accepted board. You may not role play if your character is located in here.
Headquarters for Urbs FBI. An 80-story building, with the 20th-23rd floors reserved for the Department for Rift Management. Tall, angular structures with walls of solid, tinted glass, and the entryway facing north.
A few blocks south of the FBI Headquarters, lies the museum. Primarily designated for technology and its advancement, there are many fun labs and things to experiment with. There are also large wings for history, literature, art, and music for those inclined to visit. It boasts a fabulous collection of many things, and is a good way to spend a day.
East of the museum, located on the water of the bay, at the edge where the river cuts through Urbs, is the opera house. There are several stages in there, and one very large one for main performances. Despite its name, the opera house also shows plays and theatre performances.
If you're looking for a night out on the town, this is where you should go. There are many high-quality restaurants located on the bay. Further in, there are also some more medium eateries. Clubs are also located here, since the North is considered 'Downtown Urbs'. Flanked by tall buildings for businesses, you can always find something to do here.
Located in the heart of Urbs and beneath it, the Subway runs under the river, through downtown, and even to the residential districts more south. The subway is an easy and cheap way to connect throughout the city. However, since Urbs is very old, there are some passageways that are hidden and not in use by trains, and may be dangerous or exciting to navigate.
On the bay, to the north of the river's mouth, lie all the docks for the harbor. It is sheltered somewhat, but you can also see across the harbor and out its mouth to the ocean beyond. In the winter, the docks are chilly and the harbor is icy. There are also beaches surrounding it, and piers that arch over them. There are stands, carnival games, and events for anyone who simply wants to stroll the boardwalk.
Urbs' only hospital, Urbs General, is a large, towering affair with high tinted glass and very angular architecture. It is very modern and rated highly for almost all of its departments. Has 10 floors, including almost every specialty. ( contact with if you'd like for your character to be a department head, or the dean of medicine. )
The airport, listed as Urbs International ( URS ), allows flights to and from any country. It is large, with very angular, modern architecture and a streamlined feel. Outside of the airport, there are many smaller shopping centers and restaurants, so you may go to the airport just to shop at some of the malls nearby.
In the south, it's much more residential here. There are few houses, since it's still a busy city, and mostly people simply live in apartments or duplexes. Some are higher end, with more stories, glass walls, and multiple rooms. However, the further southwest you go, the worse the conditions get. There are also gas stations, grocery stores, and mini marts around here as well for essential needs.
There is a very large park that dominates most of the southern downtown. It is large, many acres, and has ponds, rolling hills, trees, and forests. There are paths walking through the areas, and it is encouraged for people to run around and exercise while shifted. People may also take pets, but it is primarily to allow shifters, since it's not very common for one to walk in their animal shift down the street.
There are businesses and warehouses aplenty the farther south you go. Many smaller businesses are set here, but warehouses and storage centers as well. Some of the empty ones are good places for labs or stakeouts, as well as simply trying to hide.
For anyone in school, this is the place to be. There are many events going on around campus, as well as student housing for the people that attend here. Restaurants and shops also line the walks around the area, and some lower-end hotels and strip malls with any sort of shop imaginable.
There are still more residential areas here, tightly-packed houses where the communities aren't the friendliest. There is a lot of small business around, as well as a large factory that spews out steam daily. There are some junkyards and abandoned buildings, but nothing quite too dangerous.
This is where people who really have nowhere else to go live. Crime runs fairly rampant, people always walk the streets in packs, and everything looks cheap and like it's about to disintegrate. Things are rougher here, but that doesn't mean that one would be unable to find a gem within it.
The site of the first ever Rift. This place once was thriving, a continuation of downtown. However, a Rift appeared, and an area of about a 3-mile radius was affected by a blast of... of something. Most of the larger buildings have crumpled, and the smaller ones stand in ruins. This is where the shifters who cannot get into the park live. Animals run wild here, and grass and trees grow, overcoming the past industry of the area. At night, one would certainly not want to walk alone here.
